海归潮

Recently, it often hits the headlines of newspapers that an increasing number of returnees would like to work or start from scratch in China. As is symbolically indicated in the cartoon, in the middle of the picture exist a group of graduates, “flying” back to China. Is this just what the author tries to tell us? Certainly not.

Obviously, the picture symbolically sends us an abundantly clear message: returnees booming. A number of factors might contribute to this tendency, but the following one might be the critical one. First and foremost, along with the development of Chinese economy and society, the number of Chinese studying abroad has been soaring in the past years, which has provided an expanding base for the number of returnees. In addition, the government has worked out a series of effective policies to attract overseas Chinese scholars back home. Consequently, more highly praised jobs have been offered for them.

In a word, this is a perfect index of China’s fast expanding economy, which has attracted returnees in the past decade. Meanwhile, it is reasonable for us to believe that the waves of returnees will definitely contribute to our nation’s development.
